Studied Fine Art at Northumbria University, Newcastle Upon Tyne from 1997 – 2000.

“I would like my paintings to communicate a beauty that feels so temporary it would crumble if touched. It has become important to capture moments in time. My works are derived from film or documentary footage. I arrive at a mixture of unconscious and methodical approaches to my painting processes. I want the resulting surface pattern to be so vibrant that it burns itself onto the viewer’s retina.”

“My paintings are essentially portraits of extreme levels of concentration, whatever the actual subject, be it a Vietnam veteran, or a World War II aviator, a stunt bike rider or one of the pilots from Top Gun. I believe there is a childish quality to these pieces, which becomes increasingly clear through the simplicity of the pattern and the flattened colours.”
